Dr. David Fialkoff graduated from John Bastyr College of Naturopathic Medicine and was licensed as a naturopathic doctor in 1983. Yasna Navarro, an acclaimed whole-food chef (having cooked for Bill Gates), practices organ detoxification therapies. Dr David and Yasna have been living and healing naturally for decades. They have a combined 26 years residing in and exploring San Miguel naturally A different sense of time The Greeks experienced time in two forms. One is chronos, the steady ticking of the clock, the march of minutes and hours, our schedule. The other is kairos, the singular moment that demands action and refuses to wait. Experiencing our ordinary moments as singular and compelling, experiencing the mundane as beautiful and surprising is enlightenment. Transforming chronos into kairos requires three things: preparation, willingness to break routine, and the courage to learn. Mexico has a lot to teach harried residents of modern societies. Instead of looking forward, planning for and worrying about the future, Mexican culture emphasizes living now, being present in the moment. It may be that many Mexicans would do well to tighten up a bit. But it is undoubtable that those who are caught up in the pressures of capitalist culture would be much healthier and happier if they relaxed. It's not (only) what you say, eat and do; it's how you say, eat and do it. Bringing consciousness to your daily activities transforms them and you. Tantric yoga is about slowing down, savoring and not rushing through your experience. Buddhist traditions emphasize bringing meditative awareness into ordinary daily activities, "washing the dishes to wash the dishes," not simply to finish the chore but to be completely present while doing it. Chasidic teachings speak of "serving through the physical," in which ordinary acts become holy when performed with the proper intention. In modern psychology, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, pays deliberate attention to everyday activities to cultivate calm and reduce stress. Simple tasks simply done offer an ongoing opportunity for raising consciousness and the development of being. The moments of your life are designed for your healing. When you adjust your expectations everything becomes a mystical theater of learning. When you look with new eyes, the solution is not far from you.
